I recently had the engine compartment of my 1998 Nissan 240SX dry ice cleaned at Byond Zero on Ridgeway Dr in Mississauga.
It had been rustproofed/undercoated a few days after being purchased new in 1998.
Over the years, much dirt, grime and dust had accumulated on the sticky layer of rustproofing, making for an unsightly and cringe worthy mess.
However, under all that grime was basically well preserved painted metal.
I pondered over the idea of how to approach my engine bay clean up until I met Don, the owner of Byond Zero, at the Centennial College car show back in May of this year (2023).
He kindly explained how the dry ice technology/process would be ideal for my engine compartment restoration.
Don gave me a show special price for the big job that ensued.The entire experience, from when I walked in the door, to driving my car away was exceptional and positive in every way.
Eric, the technician, explained the machine, the dry ice and the process. Eric’s attention to detail is evident, as is the pride he takes in his work.
The results were phenomenal and transformative.
Of the 100 or so people I’ve sent the before and after pictures to, ALL couldn’t believe the end product.They were astounded!
A few people joked that it was photoshopped and couldn’t be real.
Many had never heard of dry ice cleaning.
Also, the waiting room was a car enthusiast’s dream.
It has a showcase of die cast model cars and award plaques.The walls were covered in framed car magazine covers and pictures of cars.
There was a radio station playing at a pleasant volume level and even a $1,000 Dyson fan was purifying the air.
The bathroom was modern and spotless.
I was offered coffee, tea and water multiple times.
Don and his staff were consummate professionals and were highly customer service focused.
The comradery of the staff seemed excellent with the laughter and fun exchanges that were taking place between them.
All of these things added to an enormously worthwhile experience.
I would highly recommend Byond Zero to anyone interested in giving some love to their enthusiast vehicle.
It will be money worth spent since I feel it has certainly increased the appeal and perhaps the value of my 240.Thanks Byond Zero.

Found this place through an online advert. Made an appointment through text with Don the owner. He had a promo for engine dry ice cleaning for $250.
I arrived early and Don took me in early. When I got into the shop he showed me around and how the equipment works. Then he guided me to the office area to wait.
The office area is really nice and has many framed pics and magazine covers that Don and his restored vehicles have been featured in. Don is quite famous in the car industry so you know you’re going to get good quality work.
Anyways after about 1.25 hours he had his nice secretary Cheryl ring me up and got me on my way. He had me look over the work his tech did for approval and they did a fantastic job.
The whole event was not just getting work done but kind of an experience. You are actually treated like a friend at this business and believe me that wasn’t lost on me.
Now the actual work that was done was amazing. They took my 1998 Suzuki X-90 which I’ve restored and made the last bit – the engine look new again. It was in great shape to begin with just dirty and this was the finishing touch it needed.
I will hopefully be back soon to have my 1994 Suzuki Cappuccino done too!
